Conceived by a coalition of universities, government institutions and
high-tech businesses, Internet2 is the sequel to the Internet. The goals
of I2 are simple: Take today's Internet to the next level and give I2
members a new, powerful way to communicate and share information.
Although I2 is going to be the semi-private network of its members,
once the technology has been developed it will be used to upgrade the
existing Internet.

The Internet of the future, based on I2 developed technology, will support
very high-speed interaction and an entirely new set of sophisticated,
interactive applications. It should be a sequel everyone will want to watch.
