There have been five actors who played James Bond, at least three who have played Simon "The Saint" Templar, countless who have played Sherlock Holmes and even a few who have played Nick Carter (agent N3). But only Clint Eastwood has played Dirty Harry, and he's a bit old to still be Harry.
I once though Kevin Costner would make a decent Harry, but even he's a bit long in the tooth now. Same applies to Willem Dafoe and Harrison Ford (besides, isn't Harrison Ford somewhat overused in larger-than-life characters? Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan, Dr. Richard Kimble...) Who else should be considered? Emilio Estevez? Billy Bob Thornton (God forbid!)? Dylan McDermot is a bit too glossy; so is Ben Affleck, who's also too young. Steve Buscemi is too small (and too weasely-looking...); Michael Madsen, maybe?

He's a tough act to follow. It's very hard to think of a replacement for
Eastwood.
