Caribbean Blue
Roma Ryan

... Eurus...
... Afer Ventus...
... so the world goes round and round
with all you ever knew
They say the sky high above
is Caribbean blue...

... if every man says all he can,
if every man is true,
do I believe the sky above
is Caribbean blue...

Boreas...
... Zephryus...
... if all you told was turned to gold,
if all you dreamed were new,
imagine sky high above
in Caribbean blue...

... Eurus...
Afer Ventus...
... Boreas
Zephryus...
... Africus...

How Can I Keep From Singing?
Traditional Shaker Hymn

My life goes on in endless song
above earth's lamentations,
I hear the real, though far-off hymn
that hails a new creation.

Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear it's music ringing,
It sounds an echo in my soul.
How can I keep from singing?

While though the tempest loudly roars, [1]

I hear the truth, it liveth.
And though the darkness 'round me close,
songs in the night it giveth.

No storm can shake my inmost calm,
while to that rock I'm clinging.
Since love is lord of heaven and earth
how can I keep from singing?
When tyrants tremble in their fear
and hear their death knell ringing,
when friends rejoice both far and near
how can I keep from singing?

In prison cell and dungeon vile
our thoughts to them are winging,
when friends by shame are undefiled
how can I keep from singing?

In times like these, it doesn't hurt to fill our heats and minds with noble uplifting thoughts.

"I'm just an average, common dude,
Just like him, the same as you,
I'm everybody's brother & son,
I ain't no different from anyone;
Ain't no use talkin' to me,
It's just the same as talkin' to you."
- first verse of "I Shall Be Free No. 10" by Bob Dylan

Gimme anything by the Moodies. They could sing a laundry list and make it sound poetic. I disagree that it ain't no use talking to you, though.

I hate this wallpaper. It keeps staring back at me. It must be Freudian.

Blob, did you see Dylan when he came to Austin?

Never been to Austin. The only place in the US I have ever been is Miami. Of the three times I entered the United States, only once did I leave Miami International Airport, and that was 'coz I missed my connecting flight and overnighted with a friend of my sister's who lives there.

I got Another Side Of Bob Dylan as a Christmas present last year. I bought myself John Wesley Harding a week or two before Christmas, which raised my Dylan CD count to three (I had Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits for a year or two before that).

Listening to ABBA Gold right now...

I am actually listening to Greek love songs at the moment. I have not a clue what he is saying but he sure is selling it nicely!

I still like "question" lyrics and music. For amazing facility, take "Bohemian Rhapsody."

I'll take "Bohemian Rhapsody" for anything! Amazing stuff!

They're all great, but Brian May must be one of the best guitarists ever! If nothing else, Queen was versatile. They're best known for way-out stuff like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Bicycle Race", but they could do funk ("Another One Bites The Dust"), retro rock ("Crazy Little Thing Called Love"), heavy metal ("Stone Cold Crazy"), even country (all right, it is somewhat of a stretch to call "Fat Bottomed Girls" country...). The one thing I think they didn't do (apart from gospel...) was punk rock. In fact their double-A single "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" was an assault against punk rock. "We Are The Champions" was a pep-talk song to the traditional and glam-rock rockers, while "We Will Rock You" took the battle to the punk rock fan base. "We Will Rock You" was made to appeal to the street louts and football hooligans who were the main audience of punk rock, and it broke all the main rules for punk rock (apart from being nasty, brutish and short...). No Ramonic mindless chord thrasing
or Brian May! No guitar at all for the first two-thirds of the song, and the final third is occupied by the ultimate taboo of punk rock, a guitar solo!

*Gasp* No wonder they are special. Punk rock is mostly noise to me, in any case. (Is this my age showing? or my incipient good taste?) Funny how every university athletic band plays "We Will Rock You" The louder the better. Queen is an amazing group - way too well educated for their audience. How did they ever make it without smashing the equipment?! I'd love to have heard them in concert, live!

Did you catch the Billy Joel special on A&E or do you not get American cable TV?
He is brilliant. His new classical CD is beautiful, inventive and reminiscent of Chopin in places. He's amazing.

Well, I don't know; "Little Wing" and "Drifting" may work, except that they're too short...

by the time you get underway and in the mood, just loop them and let the good feelings take over. I don't really think I am listening to the music - even Brahms or Paganini or Beethoven - after a certain point.

It might be interesting to research, Sam!

It's not nearly as scary as it sounds!

Bumbo Klaat
- Peter Tosh

Chorus:
Oh BUMBO KLAAT!
Oh RASS KLAAT!
Oh BUMBO KLAAT!
Oh RASS KLAAT!

1.
I said I came upon this land
To guide and teach my fellow man,
But one thing I can't overstand
Is why man can't love his brother man.

Chorus

2.
Sometimes I sit and look around
And listen to the bingi-bingi sound,
But when I check, it's so much LIE,
And that's the reason why the children cry.

Chorus

3.
Said it's been a long time, we need a change,
'Cause the shitstem we got to rearrange,
And if we meet obstacles in the road
We got to throw them, throw them overboard.

Chorus

4.
One time one evil spirit hold me down,
I could not speak one single sound;
And then JAH told me, "Son, use the WORDS!"
And now I'm living free as a bird!

Chorus (repeated al fin)
