Topic 98 of 100: The Dark Ages

Isn't it about time we got some more up-to-date software? Yapp is really creaking, and there are so many better, free alternatives out there.

It is. But not for drool.
Drool likes Yapp.

But for other sites, I'm doing some testing.
Navigate to this page Mike, pleae, and give me your
opinion on these solutions.

I just did a failed install of bbBoard2 on http://webarter.net
where I'll be testing some of these solutions.

http://spring.net/bbsoftware.html
is where I have listed some potential bbs solutions we could use.

Which one do you like?

Good stuff, Terry.

If you're looking at PHP/mySQL combinations, there's no reason to go and pay for software. Beehive (http://beehiveforum.sourceforge.net/) and phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com/demo.php) are two free ones. The former is a direct copy of DelphiForums, whereas phpBB is the message board that you see almost everywhere!

Which of the php/mysql boards is easiest to install and maintain yet still has the requisite set of features?

Beehive installs in minutes, and is easy to maintain. I've never used phpBB as an administrator, although I have it on good authority that it's not hard.

Beehive would be great replacement software for this place...
