The Lady Horns under Jody Conradt have a great tradition and she's one of
the all time great coaches. In recent years, they've kind of been in
slump, but they're showing signs of re-emergence. There was a day when
they outdrew the mens team in attendance.

The recent Olympics have really given Women's basketball a major boost, I
would expect to see many of UT's past greats show up on the newly forming
Women's Pro basketball league. My alltime favoite UT Lady Runnin' Horns:
Lyssa McBride, the 3 point shooter from a few years ago and Andrea Lloyd,
who I believe is playing in Italy now.
The team showed a lot of promise last year, I'm not yet up on what they
are looking like this season.

Another summitt meeting is coming up. The women's
basketball programs at UT and UT have been mirror
images for the last 20 or so years. Both wear orange,
UT Austin's is burnt.
The two teams have played 17 times since 1982 in the
regular season and they meet again this Saturday at
the Erwin Center in Austin. I plan on being there.
I plan on carefully watching how each of these coaches
steers it's team.
Texas is ranked 16th (4-0) and Tennessee (7-2) is ranked
5th nationally. So Jody is going to *have* to outcoach
Pat Summitt to win this game or even come close.
Career wins:
675 Jody Conradt Texas
596 Pat Summitt Tenneessee
578 Bob Spencer Fresno State
533 Vivian Stringer Rutgers
522 Sue Gunter LSU
508 Kay Yow NC State
495 Marynell Meadows FL State
474 Theresa Grentz Illinois
465 Rene Portland Penn State
457 Sylvia Hatchell NC
Texas has a 7-10 record against Tennessee.
The Showdown: Saturday December 28th at the Irwin Center.
Tennessee played Stanford today, anyone know the outcome?

I went to the Lady Horns game against Tenneessee. The whole game
was gripping. The Horns just kept climbing back in again and again.
They hustled, scratched, scraped, clawed and fought the whole game
against a physical Tennessee team. Jody's substitution patterns were
brilliant. And it all boiled down to a missed shot by Angela Jackson
in the final seconds (not to take anything away from Angela, who kept
them in the game on numerous occasions). They came sooooooo close.
