Netflix put all seven episodes of East of Eden up at once on October 1 — a full-blown prestige adaptation of John Steinbeck’s Salinas Valley epic, built to swallow a weekend whole.

Zoe Kazan wrote the series, turning Steinbeck’s 1952 novel into a seven-part limited run. It tracks the Trask family across generations of California farm country — fathers and sons, brothers set against each other, and the long shadow one person can cast over a family. If you came for a cozy period piece, this isn’t it: the book’s darkness is the point, and the show leans into it.
All seven episodes are streaming now on Netflix — no weekly wait, the entire limited series dropped on day one. It’s the biggest literary swing of the fall, and the kind of all-at-once release that rewards a clear calendar.
