Oh no!!! I love garnets, and though they seem to bring me bad luck, I have many pieces of jewelry with garnets in them. Other than the chunk of "massive garnet" I found as a child, the only garnets I have found were tiny perfect dodecahedrons in a dry stream bed in Arizona.

Now, my Kentucky lava collection has grown by leaps and bounds. The last trip to our source creek bed yielded about 10 large heavy specimens of a'a about half of which still has limestone attached. I was also brought two pieces of rock from Kelly Park Rock Springs in Orange County, Florida. Unless the company I keep changes,I will not likely ever see Florida for myself (my "friend" is there as I write this) so these very ancient ugly rocks are all that I know about this lamentable state. At the moment, Hurrican Frances is bearing down on them.
