The w command shows who logs in to the shell and how long they hung
around. Are you going to make a shell debut, Riette?

change it.

Everything, just everything!
Sometimes you speak English, and then, without a warning in the world, you switch to computer language. And all this talk about shells! What CAN it be?
And you won't answer my questions in English either. Just more of those confusing codes, and I can't work it out at all.

Just in the shell. If anyone objects, I won't publish these stats.

Riette, you'll need this:

ftp://ftp.vandyke.com/pub/CRT/ntcrt22.exe

Click on the above link or paste it into your browser. Then save it on
your hard dirve and click on it. Then await further instructions.

Okay, I'm doing it, but it seems huge! Won't it eat up all my computer's memory?

Topic 39 of 100 [porch]: The w command
 Response 12 of 41: Paul Terry Walhus (terry) * Wed, Jul 22, 1998 (05:52) * 6 lines

Nope, downloads don't eat up memory. They do cut in to your *hard drive
space" or *storage* which is vastly different that memory, my sweet.
When you click on the "c:\" icon when you run Explorer how much disk
space does it say you have left? Do you know how many mbs of hard disk
space you have remaining. There are several ways to find this out if you
need help with this.

Topic 39 of 100 [porch]: The w command
 Response 13 of 41: Riette Walton (riette) * Wed, Jul 22, 1998 (06:43) * 4 lines

My computer doesn't have a c:/ icon thing.
And which is one of the several ways of finding out about how many mbs (memory bites or what?) I've got left? I think when I got it it hat 32 whatevers of hard drive space. I only intended it for typing text and surfing the net, and e-mailing, not all these weird things.

And, by the way that download DID eat everything up, so I aborted mission.

Okay, thanks, Wolf. I think it is 7 hours difference between here and the spring.
Any chance of making the Big Date at 16:00, instead of later? Chris gets a little cranky when I mess about with the computer keys all night, and so I use night time to work and do designs QUIETLY, and without giggling or growling.
If not, then it's okay too. I might just pop in briefly, and catch up the next morning.
