Topic 81 of 100: My Valentine's Day Compilation Album

Tue, Feb 5, 2002 (17:25) | Samm Blob (AlFor)
Fortunately that sickly-sweet "Valentine's Season" isn't up and running yet, so I'm not quite in the mood to vomit yet. But I just remembered my thought of a Valentine's Day Compilation Album:

1. Alone Again (Naturally) - Gilbert O'Sullivan
2. Solitaire - Neil Sedaka
3. Red House - Jimi Hendrix
4. Ketchy Shuby - Peter Tosh
5. Voulez-Vous - ABBA
6. It Ain't Me Babe - Bob Dylan
7. My Life - Billy Joel
8. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
9. Run For Your Life - The Beatles
10. Don't Leave Me Now - Pink Floyd
11. Behind The Wall - Tracy Chapman
12. Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen
13. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones

I later thought about adding "American Woman" by The Guess Who, but I definitely would want this album to have 13 songs and I can't think of any I would want to drop.

Actually, what made me remember it was hearing "Voulez-Vous" on ABBA Gold just now.

Do you think a record company would be interested in setting up an album like this?

All he has to do is to play anything by the Moody Blues for me.
I'd buy your album! Seduction music if ever I heard it. Good choices! I need to get out my list. I also like Eric Clapton when he was with Derek and the Dominoes. So many choices - 10 surely is not enough.

(I am delighted you are not on a Britney Spears binge like most of the human animal!)

Billy Joel! I particularly like Pianoman and Captain Jack - but not terribly romantic. I love Jackson Browne but he is reprehensible in his behavior. Heck, I even like John Philip Sousa.

I'd love to hear and get into the spirit of Ravel's Bolero, even if it is a war horse! Can we make this a Valentine's Month collection?

Erm... I wonder if you notice that none of the selections I made are really love songs and that only one ("Who Wants To Live Forever") is even remotely romantic?

"...gonna go back over yonder, way back yonder 'cross the hill,
'Cause if my baby don't love me no more, I know her sister will!" - from "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix

"Go away from my window, leave at your own chosen speed.
I'm not the one you want, babe, I'm not the one you need.
You say you're looking for someone who's never weak but always strong
To protect you and defend you whether you are right or wrong,
Someone to open each and every door;
But it ain't me, babe,
NO, no no, it ain't me, babe,
It ain't me you're looking for, babe." - from "It Ain't Me Babe" by Bob Dylan

"I don't need you to worry for me, 'cause I'm all right,
I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home,
I don't care what you say anymore, this is my life;
Go ahead with your own life and leave me alone!" - from "My Life" by Billy Joel

"You better run for your life if you can, little girl,
Hide your head in the sand, little girl,
Catch you with another man, that's the end,
Little girl." - from "Run For Your Life" by The Beatles

"Last night I heard the screaming,
Then a silence that chilled my soul;
I prayed that I was dreaming
When I saw the ambulance in the road..." - from "Behind The Wall" by Tracy Chapman

"I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my true love, never to turn back..." - from "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones.

Yup, you're singing the blues. I was just gently trying to entice you away from the long lonely lonely lonely lonlies.

HUGS!

Please nothing tacky or treacly. Gimme a good Poe or other Gothic tale.

Gothic, huh?

"Queen of light took her vow and then she turned to go,
The prince of peace embraced the gloom and walked the night alone..."
